Chinese Language and Culture

Chinese Language and Culture is an immense and exciting field of studies that spans thousands of years, a vast range and variety of literary and spoken languages, traditions, and disciplines. In close synergy with faculty in the departments of Art History, History and Religious Studies at NU, ALC’s Chinese studies faculty offer a variety of both pre-modern and contemporary approaches to the linguistic and cultural humanities in mainland China and beyond. Our courses engage both ALC major and minor students as well as any student -regardless of their major and minors– interested in Chinese cultural and linguistic heritages, past and present.
